Private Class ~ Simple Party Centerpieces
A few weeks back we had the pleasure of hosting a really fun private group class with four women from the Meeting & Events Department at DePaul University. They were interested in learning how to create two simple centerpiece styles for their clients and we went over a few great techniques and tricks to make stylish arrangements like a pro.
Each student was given the same floral ingredients for the first arrangement, using blue hydrangea, golden spray roses, green trick dianthus, variegated flax, and variegated lily grass. They filled glass cubes with unique designs that showed a mix of modern and traditional elements.
We so enjoy watching everyone’s creativity blossom as everyone has their own style just like professional designers do! One very clever student even began braiding her variegated lily grass before making loops for her arrangement out of it.
Another student used some of her lily grass cascading out and other grass in loops, creating a more whimsical style.
Some chose to group their like blooms together while others created a more mixed arrangement. They all turned out amazing!
The second style we worked on was perfect for a cocktail table, or if used in multiples, would be great to decorate a long table with for a very organic yet urban table setting. As the ladies learned, modern and minimal doesn’t mean simpler to do. It just requires a different set of tools and new design direction.
This arrangement used a sleek but architectural glass vase, white river rocks, curly willow, succulents, craspedia, eggplant mini calla lilies, and little accents that each student decided to add as they saw fit.
We went over ways to bend and sculpt willow for esthetic as well as functional purposes, building style along with a framework for the other stems to be held up by.
Everyone had a great time getting out of the office for a little creative pow-wow and walked away with two awesome arrangements to show off to their friends over the weekend.
Get your creative juices flowing! Sign up for one of our upcoming classes or call us to book a private group class.
Our custom designed private group classes are such a creative and unique way to entertain for showers, bachelorettes, and DIY brides. No one will forget that special day!

Our very first class, Peonies and Pinks was just the most lovely success. Our adorable students each created their own stunning and plush arrangement. I will update the details and a little history later, and soon we will have some incredible photos. But for now I offer a few images to speak to your inner florist.
